I have a lot of favorite quotes but one of my favorites that I use all of the time in my classroom is the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

"A man is about as happy as he makes up his mind to be." I thought this quote was from Abraham Lincoln, but I found out after trying to verify it on the Internet, it was apparently not he who said it. I still like it though! My own children are very familiar with it, too. They hear me talk about positive attitude a lot!

I once heard Maya Angelou say, "When you know better, you do better!" A lot of time students (and adults) are told to do things with out the understanding of why they are to do things. When they have that why, then maybe they will apply the "know how" into application, thus resulting in the "do better". Therefore, I love her quote!
